# Crafter's Diary: Turn Focus into Profit

Stop wasting Premium Focus on crops. Master the math behind Albion Online's Resource Return Rate (RRR), calculate your silver per focus point, and scale your economy like a cartel veteran.

One of the biggest hurdles for players when they finally drop the silver to buy their first month of Premium is figuring out what to do with their 10,000 daily Focus points. If you are just using it to water carrots on your personal island or craft random Tier 4 gear you need for a dungeon, you are leaving millions of silver on the table every single week.

In Albion Online's economy, Focus is your most valuable daily resource. It is the defining factor that separates players struggling to pay their monthly Premium from cartel veterans who casually sit on billions of silver.

## What Focus Actually Does (And What It Doesn't)

There is a massive misconception among newer players about what Focus does. Focus does **not** magically increase the quality of your item, and it does **not** make the item sell for a higher price on the market.

What Focus does is dramatically increase your **Resource Return Rate (RRR)**.

When you craft or refine an item, the game normally consumes all the materials. However, if you craft in a Royal City that has a local production bonus for that specific item, you get a base percentage of your materials back. For example, refining with a city bonus might give you a 36.7% RRR without focus.

When you activate Focus, that RRR skyrockets. Using Focus in a bonus city can push your return rate up to 53.9%. This means you are getting back more than half of the raw materials you just used. You aren't selling the item for more silver; you are effectively producing the item for significantly less silver. The materials you get back can then be crafted again, creating a compounding effect that veterans call the "Focus Loop."

## The Math Behind the Return: The Compounding Effect

To truly understand Focus, you need to look at the math. A 53.9% return rate doesn't just mean you get 54 materials back for every 100 you spend. Because you can refine those 54 materials *again*, and then the 29 materials you get from *that* batch, the actual yield multiplier is much higher.

The formula for the total yield multiplier is:
`Yield = 1 / (1 - RRR)`

So, with a 53.9% RRR using Focus:
`1 / (1 - 0.539) = 2.169`

This means that for every 100 raw materials you bring to the station, you will eventually produce roughly 216 finished products if you keep re-crafting the returned materials. *This* is where your profit margin comes from.

## The Key Metric: Profit per Focus Point

Never measure your crafting success by "total silver made." The market fluctuates, and raw material prices change hourly. The only metric that matters for a professional crafter is **Silver per Focus Point**.

To calculate this, you need to figure out your profit on a craft *with* focus, subtract what your profit would have been *without* focus, and divide that number by the amount of Focus spent.

For example:

- You craft an item without focus and lose 5,000 silver (very common in Albion).

- You craft the same item WITH focus, get materials back, and make 15,000 silver profit.

- The true value generated by your Focus is 20,000 silver (the 15k profit + the 5k you saved from not losing money).

- If that craft cost you 200 Focus points, your rate is `20,000 / 200 = 100 silver per focus point`.

As a beginner, a return of 30 to 50 silver per focus point is decent. Your ultimate goal, as your specialization increases, is to push that number above 150, and eventually up to 200+ silver per point. At 200 silver per point, your 10,000 daily focus generates 2,000,000 silver purely in profit every single day.

## Choosing One Single Chain to Scale (Spec Matters)

To reach those crazy 150+ silver/focus numbers, you need Specialization (Spec).

Focus cost is directly tied to your destiny board. The higher your spec in a specific node (and its related nodes), the less Focus it costs to craft or refine that item. The formula halves the focus cost for every 10,000 points of Focus Efficiency you gain from your destiny board.

Because of this brutal mathematical reality, you cannot be a "jack of all trades." If you try to craft swords on Monday, refine leather on Tuesday, and cook stews on Wednesday, your focus cost will always be astronomically high. You will drain your 10,000 daily focus after just three or four crafts.

Pick **one single tree**ÔÇölike refining cloth or crafting cleric cowlsÔÇöand stick to it religiously. Pour all your learning points and silver into maxing out that specific tree. As your spec approaches 100/100, you will be able to craft dozens, then hundreds of items using the exact same amount of daily focus.

## When NOT to Use Focus (The Rookie Trap)

Yes, there are times when using Focus is actually a terrible idea, even if your bar is sitting at 30,000/30,000.

Never use Focus on low-tier, un-enchanted items (like flat Tier 4 or Tier 4.1) once you have high specs. The materials returned from a Tier 4 craft are simply not worth enough silver to justify the focus spent.

Focus should be fiercely guarded and only spent on high-value materials. Save your Focus for high-tier (Tier 7/Tier 8) or highly enchanted items (like .3 or .4). Returning five pieces of 8.3 leather is worth millions of silver; returning five pieces of flat 4 leather is worth pocket change.

If your spec is low and you need to burn focus to level up, that's fine. But once you are established, always run the math. If a craft is giving you less than 40 silver per focus point, close the station window, keep your focus, and wait for the market to offer a better opportunity.
